Four
things:
First,
I'll explain you what WinAmp skins are and what you can do with them. For
those who are making faces seeing this site.
Second,
let me tell you why I created this skin.
Third,
many of you seem to have a bit of a problem in getting the skins to work
properly, right ? Well, to cope with that I'll go into the unzipping and
putting things in the right directory and get them inside Winamp where
it has to do its work. Wanna read that ?
Finally,
to deal with the most frequent question I got, (How do I make my own Winamp
skin ?) I've come up with the ultimate link out there. This explains it
all. Wanna see that ?
To explain this a bit, I'll let you in on a little secret. Just between you and me. Have you heard about MP3 yet ? You have....? Well, Those digital MP3 audio files are a huge trend nowadays, especially on the internet. Why, you ask ? Well, for one, it's a very easy and cheap way to get digital quality audio files of all the latest hits ! That's why ! Anyway....To play those MP3 files, you have to have a player, right ? Since Micro$oft does have one that sux, there had to be an alternative. And there is ! WinAmp ! WinAmp is THE MP3 player of this moment. By the way, wanna have it ? Click here ! So,
having said that, you now know what WinAmp is for.
If you cannot find the skin in the skin dialogue box, try the second method: The first thing you've got to do is unzip the zip file. Unzipping is one, but to unzip them in the right directory, that's where most problems are appearing. Several of the zip files were zipped by the people that actually make these skins, and a lot of them zip them from their original directories. So they often fall in the right place if you have WinAmp in your program-files dir. But hey, we don't all have WinAmp sitting there. So be good and unzip them in a temp directory. and copy and paste them manually to your WinAmp/skin directory which you have already made, of course. So, for instance all the files in MJIFC.zip will go to WinAmp/skin/MJIFC. All the files in Screamp.zip (available at http://www.mjifc.com/download.html), when unzipped, will go to winamp/skins/Screamp and so on. Each sub- directory thus will contain several files. 'Cause a skin consists of several of those files. When
all that is done you're almost home. The only thing you have to do to see
your fresh, new, crispy skin is to start up WinAmp and hit Alt+S (or select:
[options] [skinsbrowser]) and pick one out of the menu........
HAVE FUN NOW ! Philipp
